Fryslân House Amsterdam

Fryslân House Amsterdam

The Fryslân House Amsterdam was officially opened in 2004 at the Amsterdam Science park. Reason for the opening was a joint presentation of Frisian IT-companies on the ICT and Networking Event (TINE) in Amsterdam.

Because of the runaway success of this common act, the idea of having a permanent platform for Frisian entrepreneurs in the western part of the Netherlands soon occurred. Promoters Ate van der Meer, Snakeware and Lennard Drogendijk, Business Development Friesland elaborated the idea to the presently known Fryslân House.

Co-financed by the Province of Friesland, the first Fryslân House was officially opened on August, 12th  by the then Commissioner of the Dutch Queen, mister Ed Nijpels. The opening was some spectacle, with  national and regional radio and newspapers present to document the opening of the Fryslân House.

After 3 years of financial support of the Province of Friesland, the Fryslân House managed to continue on its own strength. All costs are completely covered by the participating companies. Nowadays, besides Frisian ICT companies, Frisian SME’s from several sectors can join the Fryslân House community.
