Fryslân House New York

On Saturday the 12^th of September, is the third Fryslân House opened in New York city. The opening was taking place during the festivities of Hudson 400. This event celebrates the 400 years trade relations between the United Stated of America and the Netherlands and will draw a lot of attention from the American media. Consequently, participants of the Fryslân House New York will enjoy free-publicity, being of immense commercial value and possibly leading to new customers, projects and products.

The opening

The Province of Friesland will put together a Frisian Day on the 12^th of September, taking place on Governors’ Island. Located on the shore of Manhattan, the island is formerly used as an army base. Because the island is not being used at the moment, it forms it the perfect location for the Frisian day. On the day of the opening the island will transfer completely, using the Frisian colors as the main decoration. An former public house, once used by officers, will be transferred into The Frisian Residence and will function as meeting place that day. During the festivities, a part of the residence will function as Fryslân House and will provide the participants a platform to present their organizations.

Meanwhile, the program of the Province of Friesland continues. Main part of the program will consist of the presentation of the book ‘Famous Frisians in America’. In addition, there will be several performances of various Frisian artists. After the program, guests can enjoy a nice diner on a 400 yard table, whilst being entertained by several actors. Subsequently, the festival carries on with various other acts during the evening. The program ends at 11.00 PM
